A DUI collision in Costa Mesa resulted in serious head injuries to a 56-year-old man the morning of May 20, 2010. The Orange County Register reports that the man had stepped out of his Ford F150 truck to open the gate of a business on Placentia Avenue near 17th Street, when an Infiniti G35 driven by Jeffrey Scott Marshall, 27, struck the Ford truck, pushing it into the victim. The injured man was transported to an area trauma center for treatment of head injuries. Police booked Marshall on suspicion of DUI.

A driver sustained critical injuries in a Costa Mesa car accident after losing control of his vehicle on the connector between the 73 and 55 freeways the morning of February 1, 2010. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury accident happened after an older model BMW drove off the connector, rolled over and landed on its roof. The driver was ejected from the vehicle. He sustained major injuries and was transported to the trauma center at a local hospital.
