Accident News For Attorneys, the Legal Field & the Public
One man was critically injured in an Orange County car accident after his car collided with another vehicle at an Anaheim intersection on November 24, 2009. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the man was driving a Hyundai Elantra and collided with a Chrysler Sebring at the intersection of Broadway and Loara Street. The Hyundai went out of control and struck a traffic light.
The driver of the Hyundai was thrown out of the vehicle through the front passenger window and sustained major head injuries. Anaheim police officials said that the driver of the Sebring suffered moderate injuries and was hospitalized. Traffic investigators say both the Hyundai and the Chrysler entered the intersection at the same time. If you witnessed this accident, please contact Anaheim police at 714-765-1861.
Major Injuries for Ejected Driver
I hope and pray that the driver who sustained the severe head injuries makes it through his injuries and recovers completely. Please keep both these injured victims in your prayers.
According to California Highway Patrol's 2007 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were 30 deaths and 2,006 injuries involving Anaheim car accidents in 2007. Countywide, 178 people died and 14,185 injuries were reported as a result of car accidents in 2007.
Who Caused this Car Accident?
The big question in this particular case is who had the right-of-way here. Did one of the drivers fail to yield right-of-way? Were there any other traffic violations here such as running a red light? The driver who caused this accident by failing to yield right-of-way or running a red light could be held liable in this case. In car accident cases, the at-fault party in this case could be held liable for the injuries and damages caused to the other injured party. The injured victim could seek compensation to cover medical expenses, loss of wages, cost of hospitalization and other related damages.
If I were a member of the man's family, I'd also want to find out whether he was ejected from the car as a result of seatbelt failure. If that was the case, the driver could file a product defect claim against the manufacturer of the defective seatbelt. An experienced Orange County personal injury lawyer will be able to advise victims about their legal rights and options.
