May 9, 2012--Hemet, CA--A two-year-old was the victim of a pedestrian accident on Mayberry Avenue in Hemet this morning.  Jan Young of Instant Riverside, an online news source, states that this is the second toddler to be hit by a car in the area in the past week.  Another child was involved in an accident earlier in the week in Perris.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the first accident in Perris occurred around 6:30 in the evening on May 5^th when a two-and-a-half year old girl darted into the street in front of an oncoming Honda Accord.  Neither the victim nor the driver’s names have been released, but police sources say that the driver was uninjured while the child was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, where she remains.  Police believe alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

The second pedestrian accident involving the two-year-old toddler in Hemet sent the child to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.  No details are yet available about the driver, but an investigation by officials in pending.

May 5, 2012--Santa Ana, CA--Santa Ana officials are hoping to find more witnesses in an odd hit-and-run accident that left two victims injured on Saturday night, despite the fact that video footage is available of the accident.

The two victims, Pablo Ortiz and Karina Tejeda, were hit by a van separately as they were leaving a nightclub in Santa Ana.

Surveillance video outside of Spoons Nightclub shows the van hitting Tejeda then running over Ortiz as he chased after it. Ortiz was hospitalized with his injuries, although there is no word on whether Tejeda was injured.

The van was later found and impounded. Fernando Toscano of Oakland, CA, appeared to claim the van and was arrested for attempted murder. Authorities are still investigating whether Toscano was indeed the driver seen on the video footage, and the Santa Ana police are asking for witnesses to come forward with any available information.

April 30, 2012--Riverside, CA--A pedestrian was struck by a Metrolink train early Monday morning at Jurupa Avenue, according to a news report in ABC Local. The victim died of injuries sustained in the pedestrian train accident in Riverside. All 150 passengers on the train were evacuated, but there were no reported injuries among passengers or crew. The accident resulted in significant delays along the Riverside line.

Officials have not yet released any information about the victim or the conditions leading up to the Riverside Metrolink accident. While it is known that the accident happened very early in the morning, around 5:00 a.m., it is not clear why the victim was crossing the train tracks or what happened to lead to the crash.
